Tuesdays for Tomorrow

~ Pack for a Purpose ~

"There is need everywhere in the world. It can sometimes be difficult, however, to identify specific needs in places far from home. We believe people fortunate enough to travel to other countries often wish they could make meaningful contributions to help meet the needs of the places they visit. Such contributions are one way of expressing appreciation for the experiences and hospitality they enjoyed in other lands. Our goal is to assist travelers who want to say thank you in this manner, or who simply want to expand their generosity beyond their own communities. The supply lists for destinations on our website are provided directly by the local community-based projects that will receive them, enabling travelers to make informed decisions and bring items which meet the needs of the people who will be using them."
—Rebecca Rothney, Founder of Pack for a Purpose

Pack for a Purpose is a not-profit, volunteer-based organization, that encourages people to donate stationery, new, or gently used clothes, and other useful supplies to needy communities on their travels, and is a fool-proof way of having your contributions reach the intended recipients.

Ibex Expeditions is a Pack for a Purpose destination in India, and we'll make sure it gets to the children at our village school-children beneficiaries. Use your free luggage space to gratify the needy communities you visit.

A week ago, we distributed our two most recent donor consignments between three schools in Central India.

The first is a village school supported by &Beyond. The items were separated into smaller satchels to be handed out as prizes for an array of contests (art, sports, spelling, etc.) in which the students will participate. We have ensured that each child will receive a satchel for their achievements.

The second beneficiary was a lady named Latika Rana, who runs the Singinawa Lodge, and a school where children are being taught art. Again, these will be given out to each child as prizes for an art competition.

The third and final bag of goods was passed on to Karan Modi of the Flame of the Forest Lodge, and their village school which is very poor and would greatly benefit from these supplies.

We suggested the schools conduct games and contests for the children, as each child will then feel he or she has earned their new stationery, and it will be an exercise in boosting their self-esteem. Ibex has also ascertained that this material will not go to any teachers, and we do not want to encounter any cases of pilferage.
